Amazon released Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, a production-ready evaluation framework for AI agents, to address the challenge of ensuring continuous quality in AI systems. It is the company's first major update to its AI agent evaluation tools since the launch of Amazon Bedrock in 2023.
Amazon reported that the framework caught errors in a Customer Insights Agent that falsely reported $410.08 as $41,008 million before launch. That compares with previous evaluations that failed to detect similar errors in earlier versions of the system.
Amazon Bedrock AgentCore is built on AWS services, including Amazon Bedrock Guardrails, Amazon CloudWatch, and Amazon Redshift, and targets enterprise use cases where AI agents make business decisions. Availability begins with internal use, initially for AWS Field Sales teams and leadership.
"The most damaging failure is not a crash. It’s a fluent, confident answer that is quietly wrong," said John Doe, Senior Manager of AI Operations at AWS. The framework ensures answers are grounded and correct, and traces each failure back to its root cause in the data, prompt, or agent’s code.
The announcement follows a pre-production test where a mismatch between data changes, tool updates, and prompt changes dropped the pass rate from 78 percent to 38 percent. Amazon said the framework is essential for managing the operational risks of AI agents at scale.
Amazon did not say how the framework will handle real-time data updates without a release, and raised the open question of how to maintain quality as agents evolve. The company said it will continue to refine the framework as it scales its AI agent ecosystem.
