Anthropic opened its Singapore office and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Singapore government on October 14, 2026. The office will support the company's growing local team and ensure Singaporean organizations can leverage Claude for complex AI challenges.
The MOU outlines cooperation in AI safety, security, and model evaluation, as well as research on AI adoption and its impact. Singapore ranks second out of 121 countries in Claude.ai usage relative to its population, with nearly six times the expected usage based on its size.
"We’re committed to Singapore for the long term," said Dale Finlay, General Manager of ASEAN at Anthropic. "Our customers here hold AI to an extremely high standard, especially when it comes to reliability and security. Having a team on the ground means we can get even closer to the organizations putting Claude to work on their hardest problems."
The partnership follows Anthropic's involvement in Singapore's Generative AI Evaluation Sandbox since 2023 and a red-teaming project in English, Mandarin, Malay, and Tamil. Anthropic plans to conduct technical exchanges with Singapore's AI safety, security, and assurance institutions on model evaluation, testing standards, and incident response.
Anthropic did not specify the exact timeline for AI skills development programs in Singapore and highlighted the need for further collaboration to strengthen AI capabilities in the region. The company plans to share research and data with the government, including from the Anthropic Economic Index, and offer technical and policy expertise as Singapore develops its AI regulations.
