The structure is highly unconventional, as noted by Chang. OpenAI’s Sam Altman reportedly has around half a dozen direct reports, while Nvidia’s Jensen Huang has many dozens. Amodei’s approach, however, places the majority of operational responsibilities on his sister, co-founder, and President Daniela Amodei, who oversees day-to-day operations. This division of labor allows Amodei to maintain a singular focus on strategic and research initiatives without being burdened by the complexities of day-to-day management.
