AWS released a six-week structured program for non-technical professionals to build AI prototypes, aiming to close the knowledge-capability gap. It is the company's first initiative targeting business professionals without engineering backgrounds since its initial AI tools launch.

AWS reported 90% of participants expressed a desire for hands-on experience building AI agents, measured in a survey of business professionals. That compares with 80% who had explored Amazon Bedrock and Bedrock AgentCore.

The program is built on Amazon Bedrock and targets financial advisory use cases. Availability begins with a six-week structured program, initially for customer-facing professionals.

"The hackathon’s timing was perfect, and the hands-on format proved invaluable for AgentCore enablement – accelerating what could have been a lengthy learning curve," said one participant. The program’s hands-on format helped accelerate learning and teambuilding.

The announcement follows AWS’s broader push to make AI tools more accessible. AWS said the initiative is part of its strategy to improve AI adoption by bridging the conceptual and practical knowledge gap.

AWS did not specify the exact number of participants, and the open question remains about the long-term impact of such programs. The company said the playbook will be shared with other organizations interested in replicating the model.
