Ben Guez, a content creator and startup founder, has used OpenClaw to automate Instagram trial reels, resulting in significant engagement. He tracks World Cup match results and uses the open-source AI agent to generate and post nearly identical trial reels with a dejected caption. Guez's approach has led to over 1 million views and 200 direct messages in a few days, despite the content being indistinguishable from other posts on his profile. 'I think it’s crazy, like the potential is insane right now,' Guez said. 'I’m not sure if everyone’s gonna think it’s good, but I mean, it’s working.'
Guez's strategy involves using OpenClaw to trigger Claude for creating and posting trial reels with the same template. Each post features a dejected look from Guez, with a caption that includes a country name and an invitation for emotional support. Although the posts are identical except for the country name, they do not appear on his public page. This automation has led to substantial engagement, with the volume of views and messages being particularly impressive given the requirement for users to download his AI language learning app, Canary, to access his DMs.
Guez’s methods have sparked discussions about the ethics of using AI in personal interactions. While some users are impressed by his creativity, others raise concerns about the authenticity of such interactions. Guez claims that as long as he is open about his methods, it is acceptable. However, TechCrunch was unable to independently verify the actual reactions of the women he reached out to. Despite this, Guez is not alone in using OpenClaw for dating purposes, with others finding creative ways to streamline the process of setting up dates.
