Black Forest Labs released FLUX 3 Image Klein on October 15, 2026, saying it scores the highest Elo ratings among all open models in internal testing. It is the company's first major image model update since the release of FLUX.2 [klein].
Black Forest Labs reported 91 Elo points, measured on internal benchmarks, that compares with FLUX.2 [klein] with 38 percent fewer parameters than that model's 9 billion. The model supports native 4K output, pixel-accurate editing, and bounding boxes for element placement.
FLUX 3 Image Klein is built on an INT8 build and targets text-to-image generation, image editing, and generation with up to ten reference images. Availability begins immediately, initially for commercial users making under $5 million annually.
"An INT8 build lets it run on NVIDIA GPUs with just 8 GB of VRAM, generating an image in under 9 seconds on an RTX 4070," said Matthias Bastian, a contributor at thedecoder. The model is also available through the BFL API at $0.009 per 1,000 images, as a Playground, on Hugging Face Spaces, and locally via ComfyUI and Diffusers.
The announcement follows the release of FLUX.2 [klein], which the company framed as a significant step in its open-weights image model series.
Black Forest Labs did not say how the model will perform on other GPU architectures, and it raised the question of how it will scale to larger image sizes.
The model is available under the FLUX Kommunity License, free for commercial use by companies making under $5 million annually.
