What changed
Cloudflare has launched new analytics and access policies to help site owners understand and manage traffic from personal agents. These tools provide visibility into how personal agents access a site and allow site owners to set granular access policies for supported agents.
What this means in practice
The new analytics in Security Analytics now include a 'Personal Assistants' category, alongside existing bot categories. This allows security teams to filter and analyze traffic from personal agents. Additionally, a new 'Personal Assistants' widget in Top statistics lists which agents are visiting a site and how many requests each one sends. Site owners can also see which user each agent represents, especially for sites using Account Abuse Protection. These features help site owners determine whether agent traffic is beneficial or risky.
Limitations and availability
The new analytics and policies are available to all Cloudflare users. The Account Abuse Protection feature is currently in early access. Site owners can set access policies in Security Settings, choosing from Allow, Block on pages with ads, or Block. These policies can be applied to individual supported personal agents, allowing for more tailored control. The ability to carry user context through agents and establish accountability remains a future goal, with more details to be shared as Cloudflare works with the ecosystem.
