On November 4, 2026, OpenAI announced that Daybreak Red is now available in AWS GovCloud (US-East). This expansion builds on the availability of Daybreak models on Amazon Bedrock, with GPT-5.6 Cyber now accessible to approved customers through Daybreak Red.
What this means in practice
Government security teams can now leverage Daybreak Red to apply advanced cybersecurity capabilities within their existing AWS environments. The model provides access to OpenAI’s purpose-trained cybersecurity models for authorized vulnerability research, exploit validation, and security testing. GPT-5.6 Cyber can assist defenders in investigating complex software weaknesses, reproducing vulnerabilities in controlled settings, and developing mitigations. However, qualified security practitioners are advised to review findings and proposed fixes before implementation.
Limitations and availability
Availability in AWS GovCloud (US-East) allows eligible teams to integrate GPT-5.6 Cyber into their workflows through Amazon Bedrock. Inference data is not used to train models, and customers do not need to share their Daybreak Red data with OpenAI. Access requires OpenAI Daybreak Red approval and AWS provisioning. To get started, complete the Daybreak application or contact your OpenAI or AWS account team about eligibility. Once approved, work with your AWS account team to enable access. Daybreak Red approval does not automatically enable model access on AWS.
