Google has renamed its NotebookLM tool to Gemini Notebook and is enhancing its integration within the company's ecosystem. According to VP Josh Woodward, the tool is currently used by about 30 million people and 600,000 organizations. A new feature allows each notebook to have its own cloud computer that can write and run code, initially available for AI Ultra and Workspace customers. In internal comparisons, the new system outperforms its predecessor in over 65 percent of cases, rising to 78.2 percent for advanced web research. More users will gain access to these features in the coming weeks.

Google Search is also gaining app integration capabilities. Users can now connect apps to the Gemini app, and this feature is now expanding to Search. Starting this week in the US, users can link apps like Instacart, Canva, and YouTube Music through AI Mode and use them directly from Search. For example, users can add ingredients to an Instacart cart, pull up Canva templates, or build a playlist in YouTube Music. Additional partners are expected to join this integration in the future.

Google announced the rebranding and new features as part of its ongoing efforts to improve its AI tools and ecosystem. The changes aim to enhance user experience and expand the utility of its AI offerings across different platforms and applications.
