What this means in practice
LinearB claims that the rise of generative AI coding tools has led to a significant increase in the volume of code changes, with AI-assisted pull requests being nearly 2.6 times larger and taking over five times longer to be reviewed. The company’s recent Software Engineering Benchmarks report found that organizations using AI coding tools have almost doubled their merged code changes year-over-year, but these changes are more complex and harder to manage.
Agentic Studio integrates data from Git repositories and project tracking tools to create a unified context layer, allowing software engineers to ask questions in plain language and receive recommendations on how to improve release velocity.
It also feeds historical context such as rework rates, past production incidents, and code ownership to AI agents, preventing them from making blind modifications to pull requests.
Limitations and availability
Early adopters, such as the cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, have reported increased productivity with Agentic Studio. Kraken used LinearB’s MCP integration to identify timezone misalignments as the main cause of delayed code reviews and reorganized workflows to cut review times by more than half within four months.
LinearB is also developing new agent skills, starting with an 'effort skill' that analyzes pull request complexity and calibrates computational effort for coding agents. Additional skills focused on automated code review, merge governance, and token cost optimization are planned for future releases.
