Nvidia's annual spending on suppliers in Taiwan has increased from $15 billion to $150 billion as the company expands its AI-driven operations in the region. CEO Jensen Huang revealed the figure during a company event in Taipei, according to Nikkei Asia. The surge reflects the growing demand for advanced semiconductors to power AI systems, which has significantly boosted Nvidia's reliance on Taiwanese manufacturing partners.
The company also plans to quadruple its workforce in Taiwan, increasing from 1,000 to 4,000 employees. A new campus called Constellation is set to be built in Taipei, with construction beginning in late 2026 and completion expected by 2030. Nvidia aims to replicate this model at its new California headquarters.
Meanwhile, AMD is also increasing its investment in Taiwan, with CEO Lisa Su announcing over $10 billion for the chip ecosystem to secure advanced packaging capacity. The two figures are not directly comparable, as AMD's investment spans multiple years for added capacity, while Nvidia's figure represents ongoing annual spending with Taiwanese suppliers.
