Anthropic released an updated Claude for Startups program on October 6, 2026, saying it provides subsidized access to its AI models and additional benefits to qualifying companies. It is the company's first major update to the program since its initial launch during the SF Tech Week event.

Anthropic reported that the new version of the program includes a free year of Claude Team, the company’s paid plan for groups, with up to five premium seats, as well as $1,000 in API credits for building with Claude. That compares with the previous version, which offered limited access to the service.

The program is built on Anthropic’s Claude AI models and targets startups looking to integrate AI into their products. Availability begins immediately, initially for companies founded in the last five years or those that received funding in the last two years.

"We created this program because we believe the benefits of AI will reach most people through the companies that build on top of models, rather than through the models alone," said Anthropic. The company emphasized that partnering closely with founders and developers is central to its mission.

The announcement follows Anthropic’s SF Tech Week event, where the company highlighted its commitment to supporting innovation through its AI tools. Anthropic did not say how many startups will qualify for the program, and it raised the question of whether the initiative will scale to larger enterprises in the future.
