AWS released an automated remediation workflow for its DevOps Agent on an unspecified date, saying it streamlines incident resolution by transforming investigation summaries into pre-validated fixes. It is the company's first major update to its DevOps Agent solution since its initial release.

AWS reported the workflow reduces mean time to resolution (MTTR) by automating remediation steps after root cause analysis, measured on production workloads running on AWS. That compares with manual remediation processes that require on-call engineers to diagnose and apply fixes.

The workflow is built on AWS Lambda Durable Functions, Amazon EventBridge, and Amazon Bedrock, targeting production environments with complex incident resolution needs. Availability begins with the release of the solution, initially for AWS DevOps Agent users.

"AWS DevOps Agent completes an incident investigation and emits an event containing symptoms, findings, and root cause analysis," said AWS. The workflow then uses Amazon EventBridge to trigger the devops-agent-trigger function with the investigation content.

The announcement follows AWS's release of the DevOps Agent, which was framed as a tool to autonomously triage incidents. AWS did not say when the solution will be available for all users, and it raises the question of how to balance automation with human oversight in critical infrastructure changes.
