Samsung Electronics has begun deploying ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex to its employees in South Korea and the global Device eXperience (DX) division. According to OpenAI, this initiative represents one of the largest enterprise deals in the company's history. The tools are set to be used across various departments, including research, manufacturing, marketing, and administration. Samsung's decision follows its existing supply of memory chips for AI infrastructure to OpenAI.
ChatGPT Enterprise and Codex are being integrated into Samsung's operations to enhance productivity and innovation. Codex, originally a developer tool for writing and reviewing code, is now being used by non-developers to build internal tools and automated workflows. OpenAI reported that over five million people use Codex weekly worldwide, with active users in South Korea increasing by about 800 percent since February. The tools also feature a record-and-replay function that allows users to walk through workflows and have the AI repeat them autonomously.
Samsung's collaboration with OpenAI includes supplying memory chips for AI infrastructure. Other notable Korean customers of OpenAI include LG Electronics, Krafton, Toss, and Seoul National University. This partnership highlights the growing interest in AI tools among South Korean companies.
