Amazon Bedrock released global cross-region inference for OpenAI GPT-6 models on its platform, allowing users in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, and Taiwan to access the latest versions of the GPT-6 family beyond local capacity limits. This is the first major update to Amazon Bedrock's inference capabilities since its initial launch in 2023.

Amazon Bedrock reported that the global cross-region inference feature is available for GPT-6 Sol, GPT-6 Luna, and GPT-6 Astra, with performance measured across supported commercial AWS Regions. The feature enables users to route requests to the most appropriate region for processing, ensuring optimal resource utilization.

The GPT-6 family is built on Amazon Bedrock's scalable infrastructure and targets complex reasoning, coding, and long-document work. Availability began in July 2024, initially for developers and enterprises in the specified regions.

"Global cross-region inference routes requests across supported commercial AWS Regions where the model is deployed, giving you broad access to Amazon Bedrock capacity," said Amazon Bedrock team. This capability allows users to select the destination region for processing, with billing and monitoring remaining in the source region.

The announcement follows the expansion of Amazon Bedrock's supported regions and models. Amazon Bedrock did not specify the exact number of users expected to adopt the feature, and it remains unclear how the feature will impact existing workflows.
