Google announced today that it will allow users to host and share personal vibe-coded apps in the Play Store. This new capability is part of the company's ongoing efforts to integrate AI into its app ecosystem. It is the company's first major update to the Play Store since the launch of Ask Play in 2025.

Google reported that the new feature is built on the vibe coding platform and targets users who have created their own AI-powered apps. Availability begins today in the U.S. and select other markets, initially for users who have been tinkering with vibe-coded apps in AI Studio.

"You'll be able to send apps to the Play Store right from AI Studio," said Ryan Whitwam, senior technology reporter at Ars Technica. This new functionality creates a 'Personal Library' accessible from the app store client on your device.

The announcement follows Google's recent expansion of Ask Play to offer more AI-powered discovery options in the app store. Google said the new feature will help users find apps and games that match their preferences, based on their usage data.

Google did not say how many people can be included in a 'small group' of friends and family who can access these private apps, and it remains unclear how much customization will be available at launch. Private vibe-coded apps in the Play Store will begin rolling out today in the U.S. and select other markets.
