Hugging Face released Llama Windows on October 13, 2026, saying it puts llama.cpp in the Windows 11 tray for easy model execution. It is the company's first major Windows update since its macOS counterpart, llama.app.

Hugging Face reported the app supports NVIDIA RTX Spark and Windows on Arm, measured on the Hugging Face Hub. That compares with previous terminal-based setups requiring manual configuration.

Llama Windows is built on WinUI 3 and targets local AI builders who want to run models without sacrificing privacy. Availability begins on October 13, 2026, initially for Windows 11 users.

"Llama Windows is the Windows counterpart to llama.app on macOS," said Jeff Boudier, Hugging Face engineer. It launches with native support for Windows on Arm and for the new NVIDIA RTX Spark.

The announcement follows NVIDIA's release of RTX Spark, which Hugging Face said is designed to support local AI development. The source framed the significance as a step toward making local model running more accessible.

Hugging Face did not say how the app handles multi-model scenarios, and raised the open question of how users will manage model updates. The source said the app will continue to evolve based on user feedback.
