Deezer has launched a free online AI music detector tool to help users identify AI-generated tracks in their playlists. The tool supports 27 languages and works with 20 of the most popular streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, and YouTube Music. Users can check if their playlists include AI-generated songs by allowing Deezer to access their playlists and scanning for synthetic content. The tool also offers the option to share results. The move positions Deezer as a proactive player in addressing the growing issue of AI-generated music in the streaming industry. According to the company, the tool is part of its ongoing effort to promote transparency in music streaming. 'By detecting and tagging AI-generated music over the past year and a half, Deezer has been at the forefront of transparency in music streaming. No other company has followed our lead yet, so we decided to make it possible for everyone to check if their playlists include synthetic music, no matter which streaming platform they use,' CEO Alexis Lanternier said in a statement. The launch of the new tool comes as Deezer revealed that 44% of all new music uploaded to its platform is AI-generated, with nearly 75,000 AI tracks added daily. Despite this, the listening rate for AI-generated music remains low, accounting for just 1-3% of total streams. Around 85% of these streams are flagged as fraudulent and demonetized by the platform. The company is also considering future steps, such as updating supplier policies or removing content, following Bandcamp’s recent ban on AI music.
