Google is deepening its commitment to Virginia by investing in community projects that will support thousands of local jobs and prepare the next-generation workforce. The company is funding the electrical training ALLIANCE (etA) to expand apprenticeship training and support infrastructure growth across the state. This initiative aims to increase training capacity to accommodate an additional 2,741 apprentices by 2030. Google’s efforts are part of a broader national commitment to prepare over 300,000 skilled tradespeople.
To support energy affordability, Google is launching a $15 million Energy Impact Fund. This fund will help reduce monthly utility bills for Virginians by funding critical community projects such as home repairs, weatherization, and energy-efficiency upgrades. Additionally, the company has invested in over 500 megawatts of new energy capacity to support its data centers and collaborate with partners to enhance grid power availability.
Google’s investments in Virginia include an office in Reston and data centers in Loudoun and Prince William Counties. The company has been operating in the state for more than a decade and continues to expand its local support through these new initiatives. Google.org, the company’s philanthropy arm, is also contributing to these efforts as part of its national commitment to workforce development and energy affordability.
