Microsoft released Decision-1 on October 10, 2026, saying it handles classifications, evaluations, and routing decisions. It is the company's first decision model update since the launch of the original decision model trend by Jev in mid-September.
Microsoft reported 83.5% accuracy, measured on 36 benchmarks covering nearly 150,000 questions. That compares with 85 ms latency, ahead of Jev 1.13.0.
Decision-1 is built on Qwen3.5-9B and targets fast, structured decisions. Availability begins through Microsoft Foundry and OpenRouter, initially for developers and enterprises.
"Decision-1 is built for fast, structured decisions," said Microsoft. "It has the potential to guide and control agents through complex environments."
The announcement follows the rapid adoption of decision models, with Jev leading the trend but quickly being adapted and surpassed. Microsoft framed the release as a step toward more efficient AI decision-making.
Microsoft did not say how Decision-1 will integrate with existing AI systems, and the open question remains about its long-term impact. The company said it will continue to refine the model.
