AMD released MolmoAct2 on September 30, 2026, saying it can control robots using a single Ryzen AI Max+ 395 mini PC with ROCm software. It is the company's first robotics update since the LeRobot framework was brought to ROCm.
AMD reported MolmoAct2 can run in real time on the Ryzen AI Max+ 395, which pairs a capable integrated GPU with unified memory. That compares with previous models requiring data-center GPUs.
MolmoAct2 is built on the ROCm software stack and targets robotics applications with zero-shot cross-embodiment transfer. Availability begins with a Ryzers container, initially for developers and researchers.
"By following this blog, you will learn how to deploy and run a state-of-the-art VLA model optimized for the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395," said Mir Sayeed Mohammad, lead author. The model enables browser-based robot control and real-time planning.
The announcement follows AMD's previous post on LeRobot integration. AMD said the MolmoAct2 package demonstrates the potential of open-source robotics without reliance on cloud or data-center GPUs.
AMD did not say how the model performs on other hardware, and raised the question of how well it generalizes to new tasks. The company said the package provides a starting point for prototyping and benchmarking robotics applications.
