Anthropic released an expanded Cyber Verification Program on October 6, 2026, saying it provides security teams with access to advanced models like Claude Opus 5.5. It is the company's first major update to the program since its initial launch.
Anthropic reported that the program now includes three access tiers, which allow security teams to apply for the level of access that best suits their work. That compares with the previous two-tier structure.
The Cyber Verification Program is built on Claude models, including Claude Opus 5.5, Claude Sonnet 5.5, and Claude Mythos 5.1, and targets cybersecurity professionals who need advanced tools to protect their systems. Availability begins with the new tiers, initially for vetted security teams and organizations.
"Cybersecurity is inherently dual use: the same capabilities that enable a security team to find and fix a vulnerability can also help a malicious actor exploit it," said Anthropic. The company emphasized the need for conservative cyber safeguards to limit harmful activities.
The announcement follows the integration of two previous programs, Project Glasswing and the Cyber Verification Program, into a single offering. Anthropic framed the update as a step toward making advanced cyber capabilities safely available to a broader set of defenders.
Anthropic did not say how long it would take to find the same number of vulnerabilities without the models, and raised the question of whether the true impact of the program is underestimated. The company said it will continue to refine its tier-based classifiers over time.
