Anthropic has introduced Claude Tag, a Slack integration that embeds its AI to assist with task assignment and code generation. The tool allows teams to tag in any channel and describe tasks in plain language, with the AI breaking them into steps and reporting back in a Slack thread. Internally, the tool already generates 65 percent of the code on Anthropic's product team, the company says. This marks a significant step in the company's efforts to integrate its AI capabilities into daily workflows.

Claude Tag operates by granting the model access to selected channels and connecting it to tools, data, and codebases. Admins control which tools and data the model can access per channel, keeping memories isolated between teams. The AI can also work asynchronously, scheduling tasks for itself and tracking projects over hours or days. Through direct messages, it responds privately using each user's configured tools and connectors. This setup allows for a more efficient and context-aware collaboration environment.

The tool is positioned as an evolution of Claude Code and is currently available in beta for Enterprise and Team customers. It replaces the older 'Claude in Slack' app, with admins having 30 days to migrate. The tool runs on Opus 4.8. Source: thedecoder*
