University Startups, in partnership with AWS and g/d/n/a, has launched Trinity, an agentic AI solution designed to support students with disabilities in creating personalized transition plans. The tool helps students explore their interests, strengths, and goals to develop IDEA-aligned transition plans. Trinity was developed to address the complexities of federal regulations and ensure accessibility for students with diverse needs. The platform now serves over a dozen U.S. states and is expanding internationally.

Trinity's architecture is built on AWS, utilizing Amazon Bedrock with Claude 3.5 Sonnet for AI interaction. The system employs a multi-agent approach, with six specialized agents handling tasks like college recommendations, career pathways, and life skills. These agents work together under an orchestrator to deliver a structured, IDEA-compliant IEP transition plan. The platform also includes features like Amazon Polly for audio support and Amazon Transcribe for spoken input conversion, ensuring accessibility for all users.

The development of Trinity involved overcoming several challenges, including ensuring compliance with HIPAA and FERPA standards, providing accurate and contextually relevant recommendations, and maintaining data security. University Startups and g/d/n/a designed a serverless architecture that supports scalability and integrates with school systems through Amazon Cognito and Canvas LTI 1.3 federation. The solution also includes a dedicated consolidation step to ensure internal consistency in the final transition plan.
