Black Forest Labs released Flux 3 Image on October 2, 2026, saying it supports multi-step edits without changing other parts of the image. It is the company's first image update since the launch of Flux 3.
Black Forest Labs reported the model covers text-to-image, image-to-image, text rendering, and photorealism. Users can compose scenes with bounding boxes, include up to ten reference images, and output up to 4K.
Flux 3 Image is built on the company's Flux 3 model family and targets creative and commercial applications. Availability begins with a free demo, initially for individual users.
"Users can compose scenes with bounding boxes, include up to ten reference images, and output up to 4K," said Matthias Bastian, the article's author. The model also offers API access at 50 percent off through October 8.
The announcement follows Ideogram's release of its own editing-focused model with version 4.5, which is also set to ship as open weights soon. Black Forest Labs positioned Flux 3 Image as a step forward in image editing capabilities.
Black Forest Labs did not say when the open-weight version will be available, and the company raised the question of how users will integrate the model into existing workflows. An open-weight version is expected in the coming weeks.
