Google released 'Call for Me' on September 25, 2026, saying it lets Gemini call businesses on a user's behalf. It is the company's first phone-related update since the launch of Google Duplex.
Google reported Gemini can pass along personal information that users have approved, which lets it handle more tasks like making reservations, rescheduling appointments, or checking whether a product is in stock. That compares with earlier AI features that lacked such capabilities.
'Call for Me' is built on Gemini and targets users needing assistance with phone-based tasks. Availability begins with a beta version of the Phone app, initially for Pixel 11 owners in the US with a paid subscription.
"For now, only Pixel 11 owners in the US with a paid Gemini subscription can use it, and they also need the beta version of Google's Phone app," said TechCrunch. Google said it's starting small because real conversations involve a lot of nuance.
The announcement follows Google's earlier experiments with AI agents like Duplex. Google has more details on its support page, and the company did not say when the feature will be available beyond the beta phase.
