Vals AI released GPT-6 Astra on September 17, 2026, saying it completed Pokemon FireRed in 18 hours, a record. It is the company's first major model update since the launch of GPT-5.6 Sol in 2025.
GPT-6 Astra reported 62.7 percent performance on the ARC-AGI-3 benchmark, measured through a standard interface. That compares with 7.78 percent for GPT-5.6 Sol on the same benchmark.
Astra is built on the latest AI architecture and targets complex game environments. Availability begins with a public beta phase, initially for developers and researchers.
"ALWAYS CARRY CRITICAL ITEMS with keepInventory; don't store in unguarded chest ever again," said Maximilian Schreiner, a streamer who watched the run. Astra learned from its Creeper mishap and started farming potatoes in Minecraft.
The announcement follows a series of AI milestones in game environments. Vals AI said the model's ability to learn from mistakes marks a significant jump in AI capabilities.
Vals AI did not say how Astra handles unstructured tasks, and the model's tendency to overcorrect remains a limitation. The company said the model will continue to evolve through further testing.
