Meta released Muse, an AI agent that can shop, write emails, and negotiate prices for users, all through WhatsApp. It is the company's first major AI agent update since its initial foray into AI assistants.
Meta reported Muse scores 44 points on the current Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index v4.3, measured on the xhigh tier. That compares with Muse Spark's score of 31 points on the same index.
Muse is built on a walled-off virtual machine and targets tasks like booking travel and shopping. Availability begins in the US for iOS and Android, with a link to Meta's AI glasses to follow.
"Muse can sell a car for more, lower a bill, or adjust a workout plan," said Jonathan Kemper, Meta's spokesperson. Muse is designed to handle complex tasks by planning steps and coordinating resources.
The announcement follows Meta's recent focus on AI agents and security. Meta said the system is a first step toward its vision of 'personal superintelligence.'
Meta did not say how robust the system is, and raised concerns about data security and potential hijacking of agentic systems. The company plans to launch Muse Confidential VM later this year.
