Meta's Muse app has seen 1.8 million downloads in the U.S. and Canada within its first 12 days on the market, according to Apptopia, outperforming ChatGPT's 1.3 million downloads in the same period. This data compares the U.S. and Canada markets only, as Muse is available on both iOS and Android, while ChatGPT was initially limited to iOS.

Apptopia’s analysis found that Muse has more daily active users than ChatGPT had at the same stage of its launch, with 642,000 U.S. daily active users compared to ChatGPT’s 231,000. The firm narrowed the comparison to iOS data for both apps to ensure a fairer assessment, and Muse still led with 359,000 iOS daily active users.

"Muse is built to integrate seamlessly with our existing apps, providing users with a unified experience," said a Meta spokesperson. The app’s ability to connect with Instagram and Facebook, as well as its presence in WhatsApp, is expected to drive further adoption.

The announcement follows Meta’s successful cross-promotion of Threads, which now has over 500 million users. Muse is likely to receive a similar marketing push, with over 95% of its users also being Facebook users and 63% being Instagram users.

Meta did not share public figures related to Muse’s early adoption, and the company has not commented on the app’s performance. Apptopia’s data suggests Muse could become Meta’s next top app, though the firm acknowledged its numbers are estimates and not direct access to Meta’s internal metrics.
