Mistral AI has introduced Vibe, a new agent designed to streamline both work and coding tasks. The Vibe agent is now a single tool that handles long-running, multi-step processes across various platforms. It can manage tasks such as catching up on emails and calendars, conducting deep research, drafting deliverables, and orchestrating daily operations. Additionally, it supports coding work from request to merged changes across web apps, editors, and terminals. Vibe runs on Mistral's flagship models optimized for reasoning, agentic tasks, tool calls, and coding. In Work Mode, Vibe functions as an AI agent for complex, multi-stage tasks. It maps out a plan and seeks user approval before proceeding. For individuals, this transforms a morning of administrative tasks into a single prompt, allowing users to catch up on missed information, pull data, draft updates, and have them ready to send. For organizations, the same agent manages processes that keep businesses operational, grounded in existing documents, mailboxes, and systems, with permissions set at the admin level. Code Mode provides a dedicated surface for coding within the Vibe web app, enabling users to connect to GitHub, manage projects, and see tasks through to a pull request. The agent operates in an isolated sandbox, allowing users to manage sensitive actions and inspect code diffs. Sessions can run in parallel, persist while the machine is off, and be triggered from third-party apps like Slack (launching in June) or code editors. A new Mistral Vibe extension for VS Code is also available, integrating the coding agent across entire projects within an IDE. The Vibe CLI has received several updates, including enhanced session controls and customizable modes. Skills can automate repeatable workflows, and permissions are session-scoped.
