Mistral released Agentic Search on August 20, 2026, saying it delivers more accurate search results while reducing turns, token use, and latency against FinanceBench and OfficeQA Pro benchmarks. It is the company's first major software update since its initial release in 2024.

Mistral reported 3x correctness on financial filings, measured on FinanceBench, which compares with 26.7% correctness before the update. That compares with 86% correctness on the same benchmark.

Agentic Search is built on Mistral Search Toolkit and targets complex data and documents, including long, dense files and multi-source queries. Availability begins through Mistral Search Toolkit, initially for enterprise users.

"Agentic Search helps enterprises get better results from their AI systems by letting models search and navigate their organization’s most complex data and documents," said Mistral's Chief Product Officer. The company emphasized the tool's ability to improve search accuracy across multiple data sources.

The announcement follows Mistral's release of its Search Toolkit in 2024. Mistral framed the significance of Agentic Search as a step toward safer and more effective AI integration with sensitive data.

Mistral did not say how the tool will handle unstructured data, and the company raised the open question of how to balance security with search efficiency. The company said it will continue to refine the tool's capabilities in the coming months.
