Nvidia is collaborating with OpenClaw developers to enhance security and robustness for the self-hosted AI assistant project. OpenClaw, created by Peter Steinberger, has gained significant traction, reaching 250,000 GitHub stars by March 2026. The project's accessibility and autonomy have made it popular for local deployments without relying on cloud infrastructure or APIs. However, its rapid adoption has raised security concerns about data management and potential vulnerabilities.
To address these issues, Nvidia is contributing code and guidance to improve model isolation, data access management, and community code verification processes. The goal is to support OpenClaw's growth while maintaining its independent governance. Additionally, Nvidia introduced NVIDIA NemoClaw, a reference implementation that simplifies secure deployment of OpenClaw with hardened defaults for networking, data access, and security.
