Nvidia is in talks to invest up to $10 billion in Anthropic's planned IPO, according to Reuters. The company behind Claude aims to raise up to $100 billion and secure a valuation of around $2 trillion, making it the largest IPO in history. Nvidia would act as an anchor investor, purchasing shares before the stock goes public.
Anthropic's revenue surged from around $9 billion at the end of 2025 to over $65 billion by July 2026. The IPO is expected to wrap up before the US midterms in November, with the company already closely tied to Nvidia through its use of Nvidia GPUs and a $30 billion commitment to Azure compute with Nvidia chips.
"Nvidia is still playing central bank for the AI industry, investing in customers like Anthropic and OpenAI while backing some $300 billion in guarantees that help data centers secure financing," said a source. Most of that money returns to Nvidia in chip orders.
The announcement follows Nvidia's continued support for AI industry leaders, including Anthropic and OpenAI. Nvidia's strategy involves investing in customers while backing financial guarantees that benefit data centers and ultimately feed back into its chip sales.
Nvidia did not specify the exact terms of the investment, and the IPO's final details remain unclear. The company said the deal is still in talks and could be finalized before the US midterms.
