Nations are investing in AI capabilities to design, train, and deploy models using domestic infrastructure, local data, and homegrown expertise, ensuring solutions are tailored to their citizens and regulations. This approach supports economic growth, national security, and cultural preservation through responsible AI development. AI is reshaping markets, inspiring new industries, and transforming existing ones, from gaming to healthcare, as many professions now use AI-powered copilots. These efforts span physical and data infrastructure, with countries developing foundation models like large language models built by local teams and trained on local datasets. This helps reflect regional dialects, cultural context, and specific domains in the models’ outputs. For example, speech AI models can help preserve and promote indigenous languages. Large language models are also used for software coding, drug discovery, financial fraud prevention, and teaching robots physical skills. As AI and accelerated computing become critical for climate change, energy efficiency, and cybersecurity, national AI capabilities are essential for strengthening resilience and sustainability.
NVIDIA’s AI Nations initiative, launched in 2019, has supported countries globally in building AI ecosystems and workforce, enabling engineers, developers, and public officials to pursue AI ambitions locally. In France, AI agents from ThinkDeep, built on NVIDIA’s AI platform, are automating complex public workflows, reducing document search times from two days to two minutes and saving 2 million euros for 10,000 employees. In India, the Sarvam platform, powered by NVIDIA GPUs and built on domestic infrastructure, delivers multilingual AI models and voice agents optimized for the country’s 22 official languages. In Brazil, AI solutions from Widelabs, running on NVIDIA-accelerated infrastructure, are modernizing legal services for over 8 million citizens. These efforts show how AI transforms domestic infrastructure, local data, and homegrown talent into social good solutions.
NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang stated, 'The AI factory will become the bedrock of modern economies across the world.' AI factories are next-generation data centers hosting advanced, full-stack accelerated computing platforms for computationally intensive tasks. Countries are building domestic computing capacity through various models, including procuring and operating AI clouds with state-owned providers or sponsoring local cloud partners for shared AI computing platforms. AI factories are locally owned, operated, and governed AI clouds for training and inference, with public-private partnerships scaling infrastructure to meet growing innovation needs.
