OpenAI announced the introduction of Premium seats for ChatGPT Business, designed to enhance productivity for active team members. The new seat type provides 5x more usage than Standard seats and eliminates the five-hour usage limit, allowing users to handle larger projects without interruptions. The feature is part of OpenAI’s effort to meet customer demand for expanded capacity and flexibility in AI usage. Premium seats are available for a limited time, with early adopters receiving additional benefits such as workspace credits and potential early access. The announcement follows a series of updates to ChatGPT, including improvements to GPT-5.6 Sol and expanded access for free users.

Premium seats cost $125 per user per month, or $100 annually, while Standard seats remain at $25 per user per month, or $20 annually. Workspace owners can mix Standard and Premium seats within the same team, allowing for tailored plans based on individual needs. The new seats also include predictable weekly usage resets and the ability to add shared workspace credits if usage limits are reached. Early adopters may receive up to $500 in workspace credits for adding five Premium seats, with the promotion available until August 20.

The Business plan now allows workspace owners to manage billing, usage, and spend limits in one place, reducing administrative complexity. OpenAI emphasized that the changes aim to provide more flexibility without creating separate subscriptions or fragmented work. The promotion is open to the first 10,000 eligible ChatGPT Business customers, who must join the waitlist with their workspace owner’s email address to qualify.
