OpenAI released GPT-6 Sol and Luna on earlier this month, saying it brings advanced intelligence to more everyday tasks and applications at scale. It is the company's first model update since introducing GPT-6 Astra, the most intelligent and aligned model in the world.
OpenAI reported 50% lower API prices for GPT-6 Sol and Luna, measured on a per 1 million token basis. That compares with GPT-5.6 promotional pricing.
GPT-6 Sol and Luna are built on similar methods as GPT-6 Astra and target professional work, factuality, coding, and computer use. Availability begins now, initially for users and customers.
"More intelligence and better results versus similarly priced competitor models," said OpenAI. The models offer more room to iterate with higher usage limits and lower cost.
The announcement follows the release of GPT-6 Astra, which OpenAI said represents a new generation of intelligence. OpenAI did not say when GPT-6 models will be available for all users, and noted that GPT-6 Astra continues to be the best model across the board.
