Pinterest released Beauty Guides on October 6, 2026, saying it will use AI to transform beauty-related Pins into actionable salon plans. It is the company's first major AI update since its 2025 launch of Pinterest Intelligence.
Pinterest reported the feature will include cost estimates, timeframes, and maintenance tips for beauty treatments, measured on user engagement metrics. That compares with previous AI features that focused more on content discovery than actionable steps.
Beauty Guides are built on Pinterest Intelligence, a combination of visual and generative AI, and target users planning salon visits. Availability begins with the October 6 launch, initially for users interested in hair, color, nail shape, and finish.
"Beauty Guides will translate Pins into terms and phrases used by stylists and nail artists that everyday users may not know, like 'balayage,' 'root melt,' or 'almond nails,'" said Sarah Perez, Pinterest's editor-in-chief. The guides offer details about what users should ask for to achieve the same look, the time it takes, price range, and maintenance requirements.
The announcement follows Pinterest's 2025 launch of Pinterest Intelligence. The company itself frames the significance as a step toward integrating AI into everyday user experiences.
Pinterest did not say how widely the feature will expand beyond its initial scope, and raised the open question of whether the guides will cover other beauty categories. The company said it will continue to refine the feature based on user feedback.
