Tata Elxsi released IRIS, an industrial safety platform, on AWS, saying it detects unsafe conditions in seconds rather than minutes. It is the company's first major update in software since 2021.
Tata Elxsi reported a 70–80 percent reduction in video traffic sent to the cloud, measured in production deployments, using edge filtering. That compares with prior systems that sent raw video footage without filtering.
IRIS is built on AWS services and targets industrial safety monitoring. Availability begins in India, initially for manufacturing and logistics facilities.
"Detecting industrial safety risks in seconds, not minutes, is what keeps workers safe on an active plant floor," said Anand Srinivasan, senior vice president of Tata Elxsi. IRIS uses edge computing and computer vision to automate safety monitoring.
The announcement follows a decade of investment in automated safety by industrial organizations. Tata Elxsi said the shift to real-time monitoring addresses limitations in traditional CCTV systems.
Tata Elxsi did not say how the platform will scale globally, and raised the question of how to maintain compliance across multiple sites. The company said it will continue to refine the system based on production data.
