Wabi, an AI-powered app maker, released Wabi 2.0 on September 28, 2026, saying it is now a messaging platform that creates apps to help users get things done. It is the company's first major pivot since launching as an AI app builder in 2023.

Wabi reported no specific benchmark scores or parameter counts, but the new experience is built on its AI agent technology and targets users who want to combine messaging with productivity tools. Availability begins with an invite-only rollout, initially for early adopters on X.

"The more you use a chat-only agent, the worse the experience gets. Your history and ongoing tasks end up buried in one endless scroll," said Eugenia Kuyda, founder and CEO of Wabi. She added that the new platform aims to merge chatbots with software interfaces for better task management.

The announcement follows OpenAI's recent Dev Day, where the company announced updates to ChatGPT's plugins, allowing apps to offer interactive experiences within the chatbot. Wabi's move reflects a broader trend of integrating AI agents with more traditional software interfaces.

Wabi did not say when the invite code distribution will end, and it remains unclear how widely the platform will be available. The company said it plans to expand its user base as the platform evolves.
