Wood Mackenzie released APEX, a shared agentic platform, to address challenges in scaling AI agents, with 88% of proofs-of-concept failing to reach production. It is the company's first major update in the agentic platform space since early 2026.
APEX is built on Amazon Bedrock AgentCore and targets enterprise AI applications, with availability beginning in October 2025, initially for internal users like Woody and external consumers like Lens AI.
"Building a working agentic prototype takes an afternoon. Getting it to production is where the work explodes," said Mark Loughlin, Principal AI Strategist at Wood Mackenzie. Teams face challenges in concurrency, session isolation, and governance when scaling agents.
The announcement follows industry surveys showing that only about a quarter of organizations have scaled agents into production in even one function. Wood Mackenzie said the platform closes evaluation and governance gaps that stall most agent programs.
Wood Mackenzie did not say how APEX will handle multi-agent systems, and noted that the platform is heading toward supporting them as they become the default. The company plans to explore how the same infrastructure serves both under identity-aware entitlements.
