X.ai released Grok Bot on September 3, 2026, saying it is designed for agents that persist beyond a single session, carrying responsibility and memory over time. It is the company's first major update to its software platform since the launch of its initial AI agent framework in 2024.
X.ai reported the Grok Bot is built on a redesigned interface that emphasizes persistent agents, with features like a Bot roster, presence indicators, and a dedicated computer for each Bot. Availability begins with a beta release, initially for enterprise users and developers.
"We wanted to design for an agent that persists beyond any one session and can carry responsibility on its own," said Kenny Kuh, a designer at X.ai. The team spent most of the session reviewing the new onboarding flow, with the biggest discussion around the empty states.
The announcement follows a design sync session where the team explored the new onboarding flow and debated the placement of progress indicators. X.ai did not say when the Q3 roadmap review will take place, and the team remains open on whether the onboarding work will land before or after that.
