xAI released Grok 4.6 on August 18, 2026, saying it is built for long-running agents, coding, and knowledge work. It is the company's second model in Amazon Bedrock, following Grok 4.3's general availability in 2024.
xAI reported Grok 4.6 achieves frontier intelligence across several agentic coding and knowledge work benchmarks, with scores including an AA Intelligence Index of 61 and a CursorBench v3.2 score of 69.9%. That compares with Grok 4.5's performance on similar tasks.
Grok 4.6 is built on xAI's architecture and targets complex tasks across many steps, such as researching topics, analyzing information, and developing applications. Availability begins on August 18, 2026, initially for developers and enterprises using Amazon Bedrock.
"Grok 4.6 builds on Grok 4.5 with a particular focus on long-running agents and more ambitious interactive and visual work," said xAI, according to its launch announcement.
The model is designed to stay with complex tasks across many steps, whether that is researching a topic, analyzing information, working across a code base, or turning an idea into a polished application or work artifact.
The announcement follows xAI's previous model launch, Grok 4.3, which became generally available in 2024. xAI positions Grok 4.6 as an enhancement to its earlier model, focusing on improved capabilities for agents and developers.
xAI did not say how Grok 4.6 compares to other models in the market, and it raised the question of how the model will perform in real-world applications. The company said it will continue to refine and expand the model's capabilities in the future.
