Anthropic's Fable 5, which was suspended on June 12, may be available again within days as the Trump administration prepares to lift restrictions, Axios reported. A source close to the situation stated that the Trump administration is close to removing the limitations. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick informed Anthropic in a letter that the company had 'worked with the US government to address risks.'

The Pentagon and the NSA still need to approve the release of Fable 5. Mythos 5, a variant without the added safety measures, has already returned for select partners. It remains unclear whether Fable 5 will face ongoing restrictions after its release, similar to GPT-5.6 Sol, or be made available globally immediately. OpenAI does not anticipate full approval for its model until the coming weeks.
