OpenAI has introduced a new feature called Record & Replay for its Codex app, enabling users to automate workflows by recording and replaying tasks indefinitely. According to the source, the feature allows users to guide the AI agent through a workflow, such as uploading a YouTube video with metadata, a thumbnail, and subtitles. Codex then converts the recording into a reusable 'skill' that can be repeated autonomously. The functionality is currently available on macOS and requires the Computer Use feature to be turned on. Computer Use has been accessible in the EU since June 16, 2026, but the Record & Replay feature is not yet available in the EU, the UK, or Switzerland.

In addition to the Record & Replay feature, version 26.616 of Codex includes new functionalities such as bulk actions for the Automations history and the ability to hand off threads between a local and remote host to continue tasks on a connected machine. These updates aim to enhance workflow automation capabilities for users. The Codex app is designed for coding and white-collar work automation, and while it is free to download, users need a paid ChatGPT account to access its full features.
